Chuck Wagon Café

Michele Petsche (Cafeteria Manager), Michelle, Connie, Val & Miss Z.

The staff here at the Chuck Wagon Café is dedicated to serving the children of Garrison-Jones nutritious, healthy meals in a fun, friendly environment. Collectively, our staff has over 60 enjoyable years of experience with Pinellas County School Food Service.

Pinellas County Schools participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), enacted by Harry S. Truman in 1946 and the School Breakfast Program (SBP), established under the Child Nutrition Act in 1966. Current regulations require school meals to meet the "Dietary Guidelines for Americans," established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Please see MyPyramid.gov for additional information on the dietary guidelines.

We encourage parents to have their children join us in our school lunch and breakfast programs. Studies have shown that children, who participate in their school food program, consume twice the servings of fruit and vegetables than children who bring their lunch from home.

Our Food Service Department carefully plans our monthly menus to insure our children are receiving the required nutrients. The Chuck Wagon Café offers additional daily choices, such as, Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches, cold cut sandwiches/subs and entrée salads. Children choose 3 to 5 items; meat/meat alt. entrée, vegetable, fruit (cupped, fresh or fruit juice), bread and milk (skim, 1%, chocolate, vanilla or strawberry) to make a complete lunch. Parents can visit Nutri-Café to experience a virtual tour of the nutritional meals offered throughout Pinellas County Schools and here at the Chuck Wagon Café.

Through School Payment Solutions, you can receive alerts and have your child’s account replenished at any time to avoid a negative balance.

The number of students eating breakfast has increased from approximately 40 students last year to 140 students this year. These growing numbers could possibly have an impact on tardies. In our attempt to address this concern, we will begin serving breakfast at an earlier start time of 8:05 and increase supervision within the cafeteria during breakfast. This plan will begin on January, 30th. If your child eats breakfast, they may be dropped off to enter at the Dunedin Rec entrance at 8:05.

If you have any additional questions about our menu or food service in general, please call me, Michele Petsche, Cafeteria Manager, at 298-2364 or e-mail me at Petschem@pcsb.org.
